I want to give one last shoutout to Ben Carter and Paul Westover, the creators of Woody After Hours. These guys were both excellent collaborators and all-around professional dudes. Their format – a talk show webcomic that has other webcomic characters as guests – is an original one with potential to go anywhere. And it happens to be very funny also. So even though Circuit’s stint on WAH is done, by all means keep visiting their site and reading their awesome stuff. It’s a good read, and you might find some other great webcomic artists that you wouldn’t know otherwise.

I’m sad it’s over, but there’s a lot of doors out there in the Wide Open World, and as Ed might say, they ain’t gonna open themselves.

Now, if you’d had this yesterday, you’d be all excited about going home for the weekend, plus you’d have all kinds of other stuff you’d be looking at on the Internets, and you might have lost this little gem in the shuffle. But now you have absolutely nothing better to do. You have all weekend to enjoy this sucker. Sure it’s nice outside, and sure it’s mid-summer, but you can’t expect me to believe that you’re going to be outside doing healthy and productive things all weekend. Set aside some time for Harry. Because he’d do it for you. Probably.

I’d like to use this blogging space to thank the Internets for making my collaboration with Paul and Ben so breathtakingly easy. Back before the Internets, I would have had to take all my correspondence, tie it to a pigeon, stuff that pigeon in a mailbox, give that mailbox to a Pony Express guy, and then call Kevin Costner to escort the Pony Express guy and ensure the package’s safe and timely arrival. It’s a good thing I don’t have to do that anymore… Kevin Costner is OLD.

Go see Sam and Harry on Woody After Hours!

In this segment, Harry and Sam attempt to explain to Woody what it means to be an exploding ninja. The outcome is about as explosive and ninja-esque as you might imagine.

Remember when I said Sam and Harry would be appearing on a webcomic called Woody After Hours? Well, the first strip is up! Read it now! Okay, so you should read today’s Circuit first, but then you should go right over and see everyone’s favorite argumentative friends getting the ol’ interview hotseat from Woody over at WAH. Ben, Paul, and I are wrapping up seven little gems that you’ll be able to read on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for the next couple of weeks. So after getting your daily Circuit fix, be sure to head on over and get EVEN MORE CIRCUIT! Two Sam and Harry strips in one day? This, like, never happens, people. Except for right now. You guys have front row seats to an historical event, and frankly I’m jealous of all of you. The comic strip is called Woody After Hours, and no, it’s not about erections, so get your filthy minds out of the penis gutter. WAH is written by Ben Carter and illustrated by Paul Westover. Woody, the main character, hosts a late night talk show out of Raleigh, North Carolina. It’s very funny, and you should start reading it if you haven’t already. The strip chronicles the show’s production, from the backstage antics of Woody and his crew, to the guests he has on his show. And the cool thing is, when Woody has a guest on for an interview, the guest is an actual character from another comic strip!

This is where Sam and Harry come in! Woody was kind enough to invite them to come on the show, and of course they graciously accepted. I can’t give you a specific timeline just yet, but like I said, it will be sometime in July… I’ll let you the dates as we get closer. Stay tuned!

This is a very exciting development for Circuit, and Ben has been an excellent writing collaborator. Paul probably wants to kill us for writing so much freakin’ dialogue, but we just couldn’t help ourselves. The plan is to do seven strips, and the storyline is distinct from Circuit, so for seven awesome days you’re going to get a double dose of Sam and Harry, plus you’ll be introduced to another great webcomic!

Well, after much hair-pulling and curses (followed by groveling) to the Internet gods, it looks as though things are pretty much back to normal in Circuit town. I have to check the archives to make sure they’re as they should be, but other than that, I think we’re good.

The good news is that I’ve added a “Share” and “Subscribe” button to the navigation buttons right below the comic strip, which should make it easier to share Circuit amongst your friends, and also to add Circuit to your favorite RSS reader, if you’re so inclined.

Otherwise, if you see any problems, glitches, etc. that I may have missed, please let me know.

Bonnaroo, by the way, was like a giant awesome sandwich; heaped with layer upon layer of awesome, stacked between two pieces of whole wheat awesome, and slathered with awesome sauce.  I’m still processing it. The Flaming Lips were everything I’d hoped they’d be. Wayne Coyne rolled over the crowd in a big inflatable ball! J.B. Smoove brought tears (of laughter) to my eyes, even though a lot of the crowd wasn’t into his set. They just didn’t understand the excellence that is J.B. Smoove, I guess. Tenacious D rocked the big stage with authority; they had a new song about their comeback following the failure of their movie, and Lee came on stage as both Satan and “the Metal.” Lee blows doors down!

Les Claypool did a cover of Rush’s “The Spirit of Radio.” Ween rocked their set, dusting off “Gabrielle,” which I’d never heard live before. McLovin’ was in the audience for the Jeffrey Ross Bonnaroo Roast. Steve Martin played bluegrass, and I got to see it. Steve Freaking Martin, people! A legend!

And then there was Conan O’Brien. I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure seeing Conan and Andy Richter perform in a tent about the size of a comedy club counts as a historic event. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was there!

So, yeah. Giant awesome sandwich. With bacon.

One anecdote I feel the need to share with all of you before I go: At the Ween show, my friend Greg and I were far enough back from the stage so that the crowd we were in were mostly sitting on the grass and trying to keep in the shade of a large nearby tree. A little boy, no more than 4 years old, was running through the crowd, keeping within earshot of his mom. He was wearing cargo shorts, no shirt, and had blond hair straight down to his waist. He stopped in front of us, did a fist pump, and yelled “yes!” Just as Ween was wrapping up a song. Then he looked at us, held up one hand with two fingers up like a victory sign, and said “I had TWO ice creams today!” His eyes bugged out for a split second, like he was receiving a new transmission from his ice cream source, and he ran off back toward his mom.

Two ice creams in one day. That’s Bonnaroo for you.
